Beagle Channel Navigation – Pinguinera

We will begin the navigation in the Tourist Pier of our city. Once on board, we will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of the coast of Ushuaia as we sail away.

Once we enter the Beagle Channel, we will visit the Bridges Archipelago, where we will observe colonies of sea lions and imperial cormorants. Eventually observing other bird species such as gulls, petrels, albatrosses and geese.

If weather conditions permit, we will make a descent on one of the islands with the possibility of a short hike to appreciate the typical flora of the area and get beautiful panoramic views of the city and the mountain range behind it.

Afterwards, we will sail towards the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse, an icon of the city of Ushuaia.

Following the southern coast of the Isla Grande of Tierra del Fuego, we will see the Estancia Remolino where the ship Monte Sarmiento ran aground. Crossing the Beagle Channel in a north-south direction, we will see Gable Island and the Puerto Williams Naval Base (located on Navarino Island, Republic of Chile).

When we arrive at Martillo Island, we approach the beach and stay there. It is amazing to observe how the colony of Magellanic Penguins that nest during the summer season approach the boat with remarkable curiosity, enter the sea swimming under the catamaran and emerge again. A party that invites us to take countless photographs.

From here we return by boat to the Tourist Pier, sighting on the way, the Estancias Túnel and Fique.
